It was a beautiful afternoon for our popular Saturday arvo ride and seven like-minded riders assembled at the Risdon Brook Hotel. Today was a little different to the previous week when a group of OMG riders were occupying our departure area, perhaps they were giving thought to their friends in accommodation over the highway. It was interesting as we passed this group on several occasions as they thundered along, headed in the opposite direction.

A ride plan was set in order to collect Nigel as he knocked off work in Midway Point. It was lovely to welcome three of our new riders: Chris Lock, Bridget and Ben Reinberger – this friendly group had a thoroughly enjoyable initiation to our Ulysses lot.

Jos, Kerry and Susan completed our group as we headed out over Grass Tree Hill, Brinktop Road, Penna and rode into a parking area at Midway Point where Nigel was beaming as he sat waiting on his latest machine, a lovely yellow Yamaha Tenere which only had 2,600km on the Odometer. He certainly looked comfortable riding along with great confidence.

We completed a scenic route through Sorell to Dodges Ferry, Carlton Road, back through Sorell before returning over Brinktop into the Richmond Bakery for our coffee and farewells. The staff were cleaning tables around us outside so just before 4.00pm we took the hint and headed for home.

It never ceases to amaze me how many of our country roads are greatly improved and then the authorities signpost the road from 100 down to 80kph. Rather crazy from my point of view.

(Welcome Chris, Bridget & Ben—I did see some of your group coming back through Sorell as I was heading out—Ed)
